Childers community grieves for mum

BUNDABERG Regional Council staff have been shocked by the news a staff member’s wife, Emma Hulbert-Gibbin, was the woman killed in a rollover at Apple Tree Creek on Monday.

Emma’s husband, Steven Gibbin Jnr, and her father-in-law, Steven Gibbin Snr, both work for the council at Childers.

Council chief executive officer Peter Byrne said it was terrible news for the family and the local Childers community.

“The local staff at Bundaberg Regional Council, especially those based in the Childers depot and office, are a very close-knit group and this has hit them very hard,” he said.

He said the council was very saddened by the news, and would pass their condolences on to the family in a letter.
