Child abuse link to youth crime

A REPORT confirming the link between child abuse and youth crime should be a wake-up call for the state government, the LNP said yesterday.

Child Safety Opposition spokesman Jack Dempsey said the report, which had been tabled in Parliament, raised serious concerns considering the growing number of children in care.

“The latest Child Protection Partnership Report confirms the strong link between youth offending and child abuse, with 65% of child offenders in the Youth Justice system known to Child Safety Services,” Mr Dempsey said.
