Chelsea to make trip Down Under next year

WESTERN Australian football fans will get the chance to see some of the best footballers on the planet, with Chelsea to pay a visit Down Under next year.

The English Premier League giant could bring the likes of Eden Hazard and David Luiz to Perth in a one-off friendly with the Perth Glory at the new Perth Stadium in mid-2018.

It is expected the game, Chelsea's only appearance in Australia during the A-League pre-season, will attract a crowd of 65,000 from within WA, interstate and Asia.

"This is an enormous opportunity for not only football fans, but sport fans in general, from around the nation and the Asia-Pacific region, to witness one of the best and biggest clubs in the world to play in our own backyard,” said club chief executive officer Peter Filopoulos.

"This will not only help grow and foster football in Western Australia but will expose Perth Glory's brand to a new market and millions of viewers and fans around the globe.”

The tour will also allow for coaching and community appearances to be held by Perth and Chelsea players.
