Loser challenge set for staff

SALMAT SalesForce recently launched their Biggest Loser Workplace Challenge.

The 13-week challenge will encourage staff at the Bundaberg Telstra Call Centre to shed a few kilos, become more active and to eat more healthy foods.

Bundaberg Regional Council portfolio councillor Lynne Forgan said the council was pleased to be involved.

“Council has been happy to supply Salmat with 35 pedometers from our Community Pedometer Loan scheme to be used by the employees for the duration of the challenge,” she said.

“From our 10,000 Steps program we know the pedometers are a great encouragement to adopt a more healthy and active lifestyle.”

Salmat SalesForce biggest loser challenge co-ordinator Jeanie Perry said the community support had been heartening.

“We are thrilled with the amount of support received from council's sport and recreation staff as well as the helpful direction and assistance provided by the Healthy Lifestyle Group, the Lighten Up program and local businesses, including the Healthfood Superstore,” she said.

“The amount of knowledge and support provided through these groups has been fantastic. We're even more assured of the success of the challenge through their support and inspiration.”

Pedometers are available at no charge for specific time periods through Bundaberg Regional Council.
