Chairman to retire

BUNDABERG Sugar executive chairman Colin Stitt is looking forward to an extended holiday as he winds down towards his retirement.

Mr Stitt said he was about to take a four-week holiday, the first time in 20 years he had taken more than one or two weeks in a stretch.

Mr Stitt, who has been with the company for 42 years, will retire on July 31 next year.

He will remain on the board as chairman from August 1 for 12 months.

"I'm going to miss the people I worked with, but I'm looking forward to having some more spare time to spare for my wife and family," he said.

Executive general manager of operations Ray Hatt will be appointed chief executive officer for the Bundaberg Sugar group.
