Carols 'best in 60 years', say organisers
IT WASN'T just the weather that was perfect for the 60th anniversary of Bundaberg's Carols by Candlelight.
It was the festive spirit that permeated the atmosphere that had the record crowd smiling.
The work of the carols committee and volunteers over the last 12 months paid off as the Friday night concert went off without a hitch.
Children's eyes lit up as the evening kicked off with local performances, which included country music singer Phoebe-Jay.
Musical director Peter Beasley told The NewsMail there was something for everyone, whether it was fast, slow, soft or loud music, it was covered on the night.
Crowds were wowed by guest performers Suellen Cusack-Greensill and Silvie Paladino, and the night in general was praised by attendees.
"It really was one of the best carols ever,” Mr Beasley said.
"Silvia Paladino just wowed the crowd and the local artists too.”
Whether it was the tones of the tenors or the rhymes of the choir, there was musical delight for everyone.
Another highlight of the night was a visit from Santa to make sure all the boys and girls were behaving and stayed on the nice list just days out from Christmas.
