UPDATE 1PM: A 75-YEAR-OLD man has died after suffering a heart attack while driving.

The driver crashed his vehicle into a tree at the Isis Club on Churchill St in Childers.

Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Warren Smith said paramedics arrived at the scene and performed CPR for about 40 minutes.

"It looks like the driver has had a cardiac arrest while driving and crashed into a tree," he said.

"But despite our best efforts he has died on the scene."

His wife was taken to Bundaberg Hospital suffering back injuries. The crash happened at about 10.30am.
