Calling all Queensland kids nuts for Ballet

IS YOUR little one an young aspiring ballet dancer looking for a chance to shine on the stage?

Queensland Ballet has launched its Suncorp's Wish Upon a Ballet Star competition, calling dancers aged between three and 13 from across Queensland to apply for a chance to win a walk-on-role in their production of The Nutcracker in December.

All you need is a creative photo to be in the running.

Last year, six-year-old Olivia Nason from Toowoomba took out the prize and took to the stage.

Queensland Ballet Artistic Director Li Cunxin says the competition is a great opportunity for the next generation of young dancers.

"The Nutcraker is a story that is based on tradition, bringing children's imaginations to life and this is exactly what we are hoping to achieve," Mr Cunxin said.

"Opportunities such as these are wonderful in creating and developing young talent. It's not every day that a young danger gets the opportunity to rehearse and perform on stage with professional dancers."
