Burn targets grasses and weeds

A COOL burn will be undertaken on two hectares of the Barolin Nature Reserve during the June-July school holidays.

Division 5 representative Cr Greg Barnes said the cool burn was specifically aiming to reduce exotic grasses and remove stacks of woody weeds (broad leaved pepper).

"While the exact date of the burn will be determined by weather conditions, it should take place between June 29 and July 10, commencing at approximately 2pm on the chosen day," Cr Barnes said.

Residents living in the vicinity of the burn site have been notified, but motorists travelling along Bargara and Potters Rds during this time are also urged to exercise caution.
