Bundy’s in for real home-grown treat at new markets
BUNDABERG growers and producers are taking time off the farm and busily preparing to give community members a taste of what they're been screaming for, a farmers market.
Grunske's on the River co-owner Beryl Grunske said she couldn't wait to be part of the Flats Farmers Market and show the community exactly what the region had to offer.
"We just believe in local produce, we sell it and we eat it," Mrs Grunske said.
"People need to be able to see what's different in local and imported."
Rosengal co-owner Dave Galati said he could not wait to meet the community and tell them about what they do and why they do it.
Rosengal is a Bundaberg bean grower based in Moore Park Beach.
Mr Galati said it was a rare opportunity to meet the community face to face and take time off the farm.
"Right now I'm thinking I could be doing 10 jobs at the farm," Mr Galati said.
"But all farmers are like that, we're owner operators, we work on the farm."
Flats Farmers Market organiser Jess Marsellos has donated her time to get the event off the ground but said everything was coming along well with more than 55 stallholders confirmed.
The market will be held at Kendalls Flat from 7am-noon tomorrow.
