Bundy's Davis wins Games gold

BUNDABERG cyclist Allan Davis has capped off an amazing week by claiming the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games men's road race in a scintillating sprint finish.

It comes just a week after he won the bronze medal in the world road race championships in Geelong, Victoria.

Davis had dropped off the lead pack in the 168km race in Delhi, only to produce a burst of speed midway during the final lap and put himself in a group of five chasing gold.

The renowned sprinter wore down New Zealand's Hayden Roulston and Scotland's David Millar to earn the right to stand on the top of the podium.
