DIVISION 4 candidates have had a busy day at the polling booths and are now sitting tight, waiting for the counting to begin.

The NewsMail spoke to each candidate about how they are feeling in the lead up to the end of the divisional race.

Helen Blackburn
It's been an eventful and exciting day for Helen Blackburn who told the NewsMail she had been to every single booth in her division.

"It's been very busy. I have tried to spend an equal amount of time at each booth," she said.

"I am optimistic as the day draws to a close. People have been telling me that they are voting for me but I am sure time will tell."

Ms Blackburn said she would be spending tonight scrutineering at three different polling booths to get a feel for what was happening before getting together with family and friends.

Vince Habermann
Vince Habermann said he has so far had a very busy but good day, making his way around to the five polling booths in Division 4.

Cr Habermann said the general vibe had been a positive one.

"It's been a good vibe. There has been support for all the candidates and support for me as well," he said.

Cr Habermann will spend tonight scrutineering while the countdown draws to an end.

Peter Macklin
"Busy but terrific" was how Peter Macklin described his day to the NewsMail after spending hours upon hours at different polling booths.

"It was absolutely packed across the region this morning but quietened down by this afternoon," he said.

"The general vibe was a definite drive for change. A lot of people are not happy and are quite happy to vote for anyone who is not a sitting councillor."

"I would say there was a strong vibe between Helen Blackburn or myself to win Division 4 but we shall see what happens."

Michael Edgar
Michael Edgar said the day had been good and camaraderie between candidates was pleasing.

"I have visited every polling booth in my division and brought, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea," he said.

Although the day went well, Mr Edgar said there needed to be a better way for people to make their vote in future elections.

"This is 2016, not 1908," he said.

"There should be no reason why we are still using pencil and paper when we have so much technology."

"There needs to be something better than this archaic way of voting."

Mr Edgar said he would spend tonight with family and friends while waiting for the count to end.
