Bundy valiant in Goodchild defeat

GYMPIE staved off a valiant Bundaberg fielding effort yesterday to claim their first Goodchild Shield since 2004.

Chasing 159, Gympie was in a precarious position at 3/34 but scraped home with three wickets in hand.

The small total proved to be enough on a low deck, with experienced Gympie player Sam Shepperson and Cameron Quin knocking off the final runs.

Bundaberg batted first, but after a promising start by Travis Henke and Steve Nichols, Gympie bowler Kaden Cricksos tore apart the Bundaberg middle order taking five wickets for only 33.
