BUNDY SALES: It's time to shop until you drop

SALES time is music to the ears for most families and cost-conscious residents, and Bundaberg newcomer Melissa Croucher has moved to town at just the right time.

In the main street alone, Rockmans are boasting 50-75% off store wide, and Surf, Dive, Ski just across the road are advertising 60% off selected items.

Just a few shop-fronts down the road, Vast Interiors has got 50% off, and Rivers are also slashing prices on footwear and winter wear.

Shopping with her young daughter Cienne, Mrs Croucher said she had recently moved to town from Newcastle to escape the winter and was looking to call Bundaberg home for at least the next 18 months.

"We've only just moved here a few months ago,” she said.

"But we have been walking around town the past few weeks getting to know the area and finding what's going on and where all the shops are.”

The expectant mother said end of financial year sales were something she does keep her eye on and agreed that it was a good time to buy.

"Especially for clothes and toys, you can always stock up and stash things away for the kids,” she said.

"It's better than paying full price isn't it.

"I haven't been looking for anything in particular, just mainly clothes and baby items at this point in time.”

Mrs Crocher said the move from chilly Newcastle meant the family wouldn't need to stock up on any winter clothes because the warm Bundaberg weather was pleasant enough for them.

"I suppose big sales could be damaging to smaller local business to an extent,” she said.

"When some shops don't have big sales and don't necessarily have those mark-ups to be able to do the same, it could hurt them, but that's just the way it is, in any profession really.”

We'd love to know who has got the best sales across the Bundy region and to share it with our readers. If you know of a great sale drop us a line.
