Bundy inventor appears on the Shark Tank
LOCALS may have seen a familiar face on TV last night when Bundaberg inventor Demetrias Rejtano appeared on the Shark Tank.
The NewsMail reported on Mr Rejtano in 2012 when he created his two-wheel board, a skateboard with a twist.
The Stikboard - a plastic board that is a cross between a skateboard and snowboard - launched in July 2012.
"It's a two-wheel mountain board," he said at the time.
"It goes anywhere a pushbike would go, but on a board."
Appearing on the show with son Utah, Mr Rejtano said he would offer the judges 20% of his business for $100,000 so he could invest into demand.
"Today I'm offering you 20 per cent of my Australian company for $100,000 and I also receive a royalty from Amercia that I'm willing to let you invest in too," he told the show's entrepreneur judges.
He said the board was handy because it could give people the experience of surfing or boarding without having to find the right terrain.
"Anything is possible on a two-wheel board," Mr Rejtano said.
"When you own a two-wheel board every day it's snowing and there's always a wave out the front."
Mr Rejtano, who sells the boards online and through Facebook, said he had sold 350 in Australia so far.
He said the boards sold for $350.
The judges were impressed at first, but turned him down upon learning that the patent for the board was held by a US company.
