They will face a stern test against other states from around Australia and teams from India, Malaysia and New Zealand during the competition\.

It is Greiner's first selection in the AHL after impressing for the under-23 Australian squad on a recent trip to London.

For Elder, his selection caps off a big year of hockey after his Brisbane hockey team, the Bulimba Bulls, won the local competition.

Both teams will be in action on day one with the Scorchers to take on Tasmania and the Blades to battle New South Wales.

The finals will be on October 9.
