Bundy firies go pink for Alana

LITTLE four-year-old Alana Reid was tickled pink with the generosity of businesses and shoppers alike at Sugarland Shoppingtown, who banded together yesterday to raise money for her life-changing surgery.

Mum Emma said businesses including Blooms the Chemist, Donut King and Muffin Break, as well as shoppers together raised $1200 to go towards the surgery which would allow Alana to hear.

"I'm on such a high at how generous people can be," Mrs Reid said.

"Thank you to everyone."

And if anyone noticed smoke coming from the Bundaberg Fire Station yesterday, don't be alarmed - it was just steam coming off the trays of freshly cooked cupcakes made especially for their morning tea.

About 14 firefighters and support staff went pink for the Give $5 for Alana day.

Leading firefighter Jonathon Blackley said most of the staff had children and wanted to help.

"We saw a girl in need and we do like helping the community," he said.
