Bulldogs' cap problem set to go from bad to worse

CANTERBURY'S salary cap troubles could go from bad to worse in the coming days with St George Illawarra considering pulling out of the race to sign James Graham.

In an intriguing twist to the player market merry-go-round ahead of the final-round clash between the two clubs this Sunday, The Daily Telegraph has learnt the Dragons are about to pull the rug from under the Bulldogs and switch their focus to trying to sign Adam Blair.

While the Dragons have made no secret of the fact they are keen on both 31-year-old props who are looking for new clubs, they can only offer between $500,000 and $600,000 a season.

The Bulldogs' problem is that Graham is on a contract with them for next season worth $1 million-plus.
