Building watchdog warned before Queensland One Homes collapse

QUEENSLAND'S building regulator was warned by at least four different people about questionable practices by Queensland One Homes before it went into liquidation last month.

The company's collapse has left 133 tradies and staff more than $3.4 million out of pocket and 35 would-be homeowners in limbo.

A related company, Empire Constructions Pty Ltd, is under investigation by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission for suspected illegal phoenix activity.

Four people have contacted the Bulletin this week with evidence they contacted the regulator with concerns about the companies as early as May last year.

Similar evidence of inaction by the building regulator surfaced in the wake of the collapse of Cullen Group, which sub contractors providing documents showing they warned the QBCC about up to a year before it collapsed.
