Bruce Highway goes high-tech

THREE new CCTV cameras are headed the Coast's way as part of a $56 million Intelligent Transport System to deliver safety warnings along the length of the highway.

The North Coast stretch will get three CCTV cameras to identify traffic accidents, possible congestion points and two flood warning systems to enable drivers to plan road closures and alternate routes.

Bluetooth vehicle detection systems will also monitor real-time traffic conditions.

The program is to be implemented by 2021 and is jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments.
