Brothers to pay $21,000 for a vicious attack
TWO brothers have been ordered to pay $21,000 compensation to a man they “viciously assaulted” in Bundaberg.
Brothers Colin Lloyd Broadhurst and John Peter Broadhurst punched and kicked Peter Andrew Willis on his own property on February 6, 2007.
The men, who pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm this year, fractured Mr Willis' bones and severely bruised his face and ribs.
Maroochydore District Court heard on Friday that Mr Willis had a complex psychological profile and it was difficult to diagnose any particular injury related to the assault.
Judge John Robertson said the men were fortunate they were not charged with the aggravated charge of causing grievous bodily harm.
He ordered the brothers to pay 28% of Queensland's criminal compensation scheme maximum.
