Brothers rule again in the Bundaberg Rugby League
LEAGUE: Bundaberg is back on top after Past Brothers took out the Bundaberg Rugby League A-Grade title this afternoon.
The Brethren took out its first premiership since 2015 with a 22-18 win over the Wallaroos at Salter Oval.
In the perfect way to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the club a try to Kane Chapman with four minutes to go gave Brothers the win.
The side had been down for the whole match.
It was a painful way to end the year for the Wallaroos who were chasing their first Bundaberg Rugby League title since 2009.
The Roos scored the opening two tries to lead 12-0 and were up 12-10 at half time.
The Maryborough outfit then led 16-14 for over 15 minutes before Brothers scored late to win.
"We went the hard way about it and we didn't stick to anything," Brothers coach Brent Kuskey said.
"I don't how we won, we won but I don't know how we won.
"We were lucky to get them in the end."
In other matches on the day, Brothers won the women's competition 16-14 over Isis with Maryborough Brothers winning the reserves 28-26 over Past Brothers.
Finally, the Wallaroos defeated Brothers in the under-18 competition 26-22.
There will be more on the Brothers victory online tomorrow and in the NewsMail on Tuesday.
