Brothers 1 look to improve ahead of match against Div 2 side

BROTHERS 1 will welcome back opening batsman James Fitzpatrick and his presence will certainly strengthen their batting unit in round 2 of the Bundaberg Div 1/2Competition.

Brothers all-rounder David Boge said Fitzpatrick was sorely missed from the line-up in last week's loss against Across the Waves.

Boge said new coach Len Kirchner had fitted in nicely and had already picked up on a few errors the side could improve on from the 40-over game last week.

"He picked up on a few things that we need to work on as a bowling and fielding unit," he said.

Brothers 1 take on their Div 2 counterparts and Boge said it would make for an interesting game of cricket.

"It's a bit of an unknown quantity really playing against players we train with," he said

"But I know the Div 2 side are looking forward to it.

"They don't want to take a backwards step and get beaten."

Brothers 1 v Brothers 2 will play tomorrow.

Past Highs will see the return of fast bowler Dale Steele and captain David Bonser said he would be looking to Steele and Dean Krebs to lead the bowling attack.

"Hopefully he and Dean Krebs can do some damage early against ATW," he said.

"I think we need to be more consistent with our fielding to help our bowlers.

"They (bowlers) charge in and sometimes they get let down with fielders not concentrating."

Past Highs will play ATW on Sunday at 9am

The other game of the round will be played between ATW 2 and Norths on Sunday.

All three games will be played at Salter Oval.
