Bride-to-be hosting wedding 'party' Nimbin won't forget

NEWLY-engaged Nimbin resident Natasha Myers is planning a wedding her community will never forget.

She said due to some negative vibes entering the town recently she wanted to host a big party for Nimbin to enjoy.

"I thought it was a good time to bring a bit of a party into the community," Ms Myers said.

"I've already got a photographer and a seamstress. I don't want a wedding dress, I want wedding shorts.

"They look really good in the Katy Perry film clip Hot and Cold.

"I want to go with white with black lace."

Ms Myers and her partner Shane Sonter aren't sure what the groom's outfit will look like yet, but had a few ideas.

"He wants to wear thongs and (bring) a stubby," she joked, but it was unlikely he would be wearing a suit either.

"It will be more themed to a small community," she said. "Nimbin isn't really a suity place, so perhaps a nice outfit from the Hemp Embassy."

Ms Myers posted on the Nimbin hook ups Facebook page a request for vendors to come forward and help her with the task.

In the post she wrote, "In all this light of attacks (on Nimbin) I've decided to bring some party to our rocking community.

"I'm getting married. With a difference. I am not sourcing ANYTHING outside of the Nimbin area."

She said she has already received a lot of support and requests from around town.

"We have a big supportive community here," Ms Myers said.

As for a style or theme, apart from sourcing everything locally, she wants a mystical "fairy-like" theme.

"I'm wanting my friend ... to attend with her ponies (unicorns) So this will be a big impact on venue," she said.

Ms Myers said she may need to consider asking the community about private property hire but has a couple of public venues in mind she will approach first.

She is planning the wedding around May 2017.

Ms Myers and Mr Sonter used to run the Hemp Bar in town.

Their three-year-old daughter, Bailey, was born and raised in Nimbin.
