Man killed in machinery accident near Mackay
UPDATE: A MAN has died in an industrial accident in the Mackay region, police have confirmed.
It's understood a forklift was involved.
Senior Sergeant Brendan Davis told a Daily Mercury reporter at the scene there was a "deceased male" who was in "some type of accident" involving machinery at Sandiford.
The Mackay police duty officer was unable to detail the man's age or where he is from at this stage, adding "that will probably be hours away before we can confirm that sort of thing".
Snr Sgt Davis said the accident on Maus Road occurred "sometime this afternoon", but added "we don't have a time as to when it's actually occurred".
The officer said he wasn't sure if anyone witnessed the accident and was unable to say how the man was found.
"I'd think friends. But I'd only be guessing," he said.
"The investigation will take place with (the) Forensic Crash (Unit). They'll come out here and observe the scene. Scenes of crime officers, possibly criminal investigators ... "
Police had to make further contact with those known to the man.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman has said the accident involved a forklift.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance crews were all on scene as of 6pm.
Sandiford is located about 15km south-west of Mackay city, near Bakers Creek.
UPDATE: A FORKLIFT appears to be involved in an "industrial accident" in the Mackay region that has injured a man, according to Queensland Fire and Emergency Service.
A spokesman said two crews were attending an accident on a farm or property at Sandiford, near Bakers Creek, after being called about 5pm.
Queensland Ambulance Service have said a man, of an unknown age, did not need to be taken to hospital. The extent of the man's injuries are still unknown.
A spokesman for Queensland Police said the incident had not appeared on his computer systems yet.
Queensland Fire and Emergency, Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance were unable to provide more details at this time.
Sandiford is located about 15km south-west of Mackay city.

Paramedics were called to an accident on Maus Rd at Sandiford, near Bakers Creek, about 5pm, a spokesperson said.
A man, of an unknown age, was being assessed at the scene and the spokesperson said no transportation was required.
The extent of the man's injuries are unknown at this stage.
