1PM: Best friend Suzie Smyth says the home owners have had a rough couple of years including a battle with leukaemia.

"Her husband is in Brisbane. He has been fighting leukaemia," she said.

"He has just had a successful bone morrow transplant and is probably three or four weeks away from coming home.

"They don't need this."

Ms Smyth said they managed to rescue two dogs from the fire with one still missing.

Unfortunately the couple's pet lizard perished in the fire.

10.30AM: Nearby neighbour Wayne Galea recalls seeing the flames from his place about 8am.

"I've seen the fire from my place all the black smoke and I just come racing down.

"You can see there is not much left of it now."

9.15AM: Moore Park rural firefighter Lindsay Browne says a Fairydale Rd home has been destroyed by flames.

"I just got called to the fire about quarter past eight and when I got here the house was well alight," he said.

"We checked to see there was no persons inside. The occupier turned up about 15 minutes later.

"The house was, at that stage, completely engulfed.

"What's left is not very much."

8.40AM: Video footage has shown the extent of the flames which are engulfing a home on Fairydale Rd.

8.15AM FRIDAY: Crews are on scene at a house fire at Fairydale Rd.

It is believed the two-storey Queenslander home at Fairymead is very engulfed.

Reports suggest all people are out of the building.

Multiple crews are on scene.
