UPDATE: A TEACHER'S aide has pulled a young student to safety after a near-drowning at a Toowoomba school.

Paramedics rushed to Newtown State School about 12.20pm today to reports of a drowning incident involving the primary-school aged boy.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the student had been immersed under water in a pool at the school.
