GOLF

MEN

THE captain suspended play when a heavy downpour hit the course. Luckily, all players had completed at least nine holes so a result could be determined.

The President versus Captain's Matchplay competition proved to be fairly close with many players finishing even in their games.

However, the president's team claimed the trophy for 2015, winning seven games to four games by the captain's team, with the president claiming a win, which may not have been the case after 18 holes!

Len Stallard won the pinshot on 4&13, while Helen Ricciardi won the women's approach on the same hole.

Members appreciated the after-game snack provided by the President and Captain. Thank you to the preparers and cleaners-up.

Next week we play a Captain's Choice instead of the programmed sponsored day by Bill and Jan Kingston which will be played on the following Saturday.

Remember that the Mixed Foursomes Championship is played on this Sunday, hit-off at 11am - do I dare suggest that everyone bring a plate?

WOMEN

IN THE Thursday single stableford competition, Kerry Schnack recorded 35 points to win by one shot from Lisa Cooney. Lisa (2.73m) also claimed the approach.

This Thursday we play a single stroke.

In the President versus Captain's Matchplay competition, Cynthia Draper and Robyn Robinson won their matches and Helen Ricciardi claimed the women's approach on 4 and 13.

This Saturday we play a Captain's Choice competition (single stableford) instead of the postponed Bill and Jan Kingston sponsored day to be held the following Saturday.

Remember- Mixed Foursomes Championships this Sunday, hit-off at 11:00 a.m. hopefully every woman player has a partner and nominated and bringing a plate, please.

VETS

LARGE fields have become the order of the day with every tee used for the shotgun start to the stroke versus par competition, two new members and two visitors rounding off the field.

Mark McAulay routed the opposition in A Division recording a remarkable 7 plus, to win from Ray Walker unlucky to lose with plus 4. Norm Plath won best nine on a countback.

Jack Smith played a plus 5 second nine to end with plus 1, winning from new member Phil Pearce on minus 2, with Vicki Wyeth winning best nine with plus 1.

The approach shots were won by Mark McAulay (0.41m) for the men on 1&10; Cynthia Draper (1.53m) for the ladies on 6&15; Ray Walker (in the hole) for the combined on 4&13. Mark led the Chook Run winners with nett 29 from Vicki Wyeth (32), Adrian Martin, Ray Walker (33), Michael Stanton, Col Dennett, Barry Steinke and Phil Pearce (34 each.

This coming Tuesday we celebrate the Monthly V.I.P. Stroke competition, this month being sponsored by Phil Luckett and Ken Albion with support of friends. See you there for the 12 noon hit-off.

SOCIAL

A COLD blustery morning greeted the 20 players who took part today with the wind chill factor decreasing the temperature enough to make the game uncomfortable for most. The winner for the day with a credible 31 was Hoss Eberl, losing 3.1 off his handicap in the process. Second was Ray Burrows with 33 and losing 1.9, and third on a countback from Ray was Col Dennett and losing 1.0.

Not surprisingly the Least Putts was won by Hoss with 12. Terry Smallman managed to take out the A Grade Longest Drive, with Domonic Mete taking out the B Grade Longest Drive and also the B Grade Approach on the 10th.

Next week we will play a Single Stableford over the Back Nine teeing off at 8am, so be there at the course at least half an hour early so that cards can be filled in and teams chosen.
