COLOURFUL former politician and media personality Chris Bombolas will be the guest speaker when Brothers Sports Club holds its inaugural Sports Awards Dinner on Friday, November 12.
Each of the intra-clubs in sports of rugby league, football, AFL, cricket, softball, lawn bowls, social golf, touch football, eight ball and darts have been asked to nominate members for the senior sportsman and woman, junior sportsman and woman of the year, and volunteer of the year.
Club president John Byrne said affiliates had plenty to celebrate including Brothers winning Bundaberg Rugby League A Grade and under-18 premierships, and three of the four Bundaberg Cricket Divisions completing six straight Division 1 titles, Brothers United claiming the Bundaberg Softball A-Grade Ladies and Men's double, and Brothers Bulldogs AFL making a clean sweep of the Senior, Reserves, under-17 and under-14 flags.
“These awards are something that we have wanted to do for a long time and Jodi Pfingst and Noel Cavanagh have worked very hard to bring it together, and it will be a great night,” Byrne said.
Tickets at a cost of $30 single or $50 double are available from the club or phone 41513532.
