Bombers remain on target for premiership tilt

LIFE-long Hervey Bay Bomber Luke O'Toole will do all he can to ensure a Fraser Coast team features in the first QFA Wide Bay Sunshine Coast grand final.

O'Toole is one of the club's shining lights this season, capped by his selection as the Fraser Coast's sole representative in the South Queensland team.

While he missed out on that opportunity due to work commitments and a calf injury, the 21-year-old is determined to end this year the same was he ended his first senior season in 2013: with a premiership.

For that to happen, he and his teammates must travel to Maroochydore and beat the minor premiership-winning Roos.

"Maroochydore is a tough side,” O'Toole said. "We know we can beat them,

"They got us last time but we should go good against them this time. They are a pretty skilled team.”

O'Toole was among his side's best performers as the Bombers beat Bay Power 15.14-104 - 10.11-71 at Keith Dunne Oval last week. The win ended the Power's season, completing a 12-month revenge mission.

"When Power knocked us out last year, that was devastating,” O'Toole said.

"We were down in the dumps for a bit there. We just built ourselves up from the start this year, take each week at a time, and haven't gotten ahead of ourselves.

"Before the game, we wanted to prove we could beat them. After they knocked us out last year we wanted to knock them out.”

The winner of today's preliminary final will face Brothers Bulldogs at either Gympie, Bundaberg, or Hervey Bay in next week's grand final.
