Bolivia snares top award
BOLIVIA Millerick upstaged her twin sister Cassandra to win the coveted Dell Bawden Memorial Junior Bowler of the Year Trophy at the Burnett Bowls Club's Junior Section awards for 2011.
The club's junior section joined the women's and men's section for a joint trophy presentation.
Bolivia had for so long lived in Cassandra's shadow, but she has gone from strength to strength this year, and she was rewarded for her excellence in a coming of age 12 months.
She also picked up the Peter Walton Tyre and Batteries Trophy for 14 to 18 Junior Singles, but was runner-up to her twin for the Del Baxter and Betty Murray 14 to 18 Junior Consistency Singles silverware.
Together, they took out the Barritt's Butchery Trophy for 14 to 18 Junior Pairs, with Paul Kajewski and Rikki-Lee Kemp finishing second.
The morning started off with a "very casual" game of bowls, followed by a barbecue lunch and then the trophy presentation which was attended by 90 juniors, men, women, parents and volunteers.
Club Junior Section coordinator Des Kemp thanked all coaches, helpers and sponsors who made 2011 "a most enjoyable year".
"The junior bowlers look forward to your support again in 2012 and we hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and have a happy and safe New Year," Kemp said.
