Boardwalk contruction begins

CONSTRUCTION of a boardwalk that will complete a gap in the coastal pathway along Woongarra Scenic Drive started yesterday.

Bundaberg Regional Council last week awarded a $209,765 contract to Christensen Industries to construct the boardwalk at Moneys Creek, Bargara, which is an extension of the footpath where terrain falls into the creek.

The boardwalk is part of the $622,000 Bargara Coastal Pathways project.

Councillor Wayne Honor said the work would provide a long-awaited safe passage along the Esplanade and would provide an avenue for residents and visitors to enjoy the coastline.

Councillor Greg Barnes agreed, saying he was pleased to see the project would mean the completion of a missing link in the coastal pathway that would eventually link Elliott Heads all the way to Burnett Heads.
