Bloody idiot rider clocked at 199kmh on Bruce Hwy

A MOTORCYCLIST was clocked doing 199kmh on the Bruce Hwy south of Maryborough.

He was travelling so fast police were not able to identify his numberplate.

And according to police, his was a potential death ride, as he would not have lived had he been in an accident.

The rider on a black motorbike sped through Glenorchy Straight, south of Maryborough on Wednesday.

Maryborough police Acting Sergeant Matt Walker said if the rider crashed he would not have survived.

"If he was in a head-on crash doing those speeds, he wouldn't have survived ...," Acting Sgt Walker said.

But he was not only a threat to himself, Sgt Walker said, innocent road users also could have been killed.

"It is other lives, you don't know what is coming in the opposite direction," he said.

The motorcyclist was seen at 12.40pm heading towards Tiaro.

But it all caught up to the rider at 1.40pm when an unmarked police car in Gympie observed the black motorcycle and obtained registration details.

The rider also allegedly ran a red turning light.
