Blackout causes crash at Gin Gin

A CAR and truck collided in Gin Gin yesterday, leaving a man with severe injuries.

It is believed a 64-year-old man was driving a Mercedes Benz Coupe when he blacked out and headed into oncoming traffic in the north-bound lane.

The Mercedes Benz collided with a Hino 500 Series truck, driven by a 55-year-old man.

On impact, the car was pushed backwards about 10 metres and landed on the opposite side of the road.

Firefighters cut the 64-year-old from the car before he was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with severe injuries, which were not considered life threatening.

Queensland Ambulance treated the truck driver at the scene.

The truck driver was not transported to hospital.

The incident took place just after 11.30am yesterday.

Police are investigating the smash.
