Bird lovers invited to convention

AN invitation has been issued for Clarence Valley bird lovers to join 160 experts from around the world who have arrived for the 10th AVES International Parrot Convention.

The convention begins today at the South Grafton Ex-Servicemen’s Club and organisers Neville and Noddy Connors said local bird lovers were welcome to come along to the three days of lectures and entertainment.

“For all three days, including the gala dinner on Saturday night, it’s $350,” Mrs Connors said.

“That includes all meals and drinks.”

The list of 13 speakers is impressive, with Australian, US, Canadian and European experts to talk.

Lectures will begin today at 1pm and continue throughout the afternoon. Tomorrow there will be lectures all day followed by the dinner.

On Sunday the convention winds up with a barbecue lunch at Casuarina Parrot Gardens at Ramornie.
