Bingera may lose seven

BINGERA will be hardest hit when the Bundaberg Toyota Spirit take to the field this season, with as many as seven players from the club expected to be representing the top side this season.

Spirit captain Brett Kitching and Laurie Stephenson were a big part of the club’s Archem premiership last season, but coach Geoff Kirby will most likely have to do it without them this year.

“It’s a blow but I completely understand their decision,” he said.

“We’ll have at least five out and maybe seven, but we have plenty of depth.”

Stephenson echoed Kirby’s optimism. “They’ll still put up a good showing, I think, but for me it wasn’t a hard decision because I want to play at the highest level I can, and that is the Queensland State League,” he said.

“We’ll all end up going back to Bingera with that experience and help the next crop, through.”
