Biggenden now in Flynn boundary

BIGGENDEN has changed electorate boundaries, with the federal seat of Flynn picking up the town after the Australian Electoral Commission set new lines that were gazetted yesterday.

Federal member for Flynn Chris Trevor has welcomed the new town into his area with open arms.

“The new boundaries announced today will mean Flynn will remain a very marginal seat but a lot more manageable so far as size and distance is concerned,” Mr Trevor said.

“Flynn will still be one of the most diverse and largest seats in Queensland but smaller now then Victoria and Tasmania put together, which was the size of Flynn before the redistribution.”

Winton, Longreach, Barcaldine, Alpha and Wandoan have been redistributed to Maranoa, held by Bruce Scott, while the seat of Flynn will pick up not only Biggenden but Mount Morgan and Gracemere as well.

Mr Trevor said yesterday that he was looking forward to meeting his new constituents early in the new year.
