Big-name AFL recruits having low impact in season 2015

IT'S fair to say many of this year's recruits have been high in profile, but, so far, low in output. Of those bigger names who put their hands up to change clubs last off-season, most have either been cruelled by injury or simply struggling for form.
Jarrad Waite (Carl>NM)
12 games. The inconsistent key forward has only missed one game, but hasn't averaged so few marks since 2007, while booting just 20 goals.
Liam Jones (WB>Carl)
8 games. Recruiting the 'competitive beast' was one of Mick Malthouse's big blues, the key forward kicking six goals. He hasn't had a look in under interim coach John Barker.
Rhys Stanley (StK>Geel)
8 games. The much-maligned athletic big man had just hit his straps - 17 disposals, 24 hitouts, six clearances and two goals in a game against Port - when he sustained a season-ending foot injury.
Paddy Ryder (Ess>PA)
9 games. Port's 'missing link' has been missing in action. Struggled for form and then suffered an achilles injury. Kicked just seven goals before last night's game.

Levi Greenwood (NM>Coll)
0 games. The Magpies effectively received Jack Crisp, Jordan de Goey and Greenwood for losing Dayne Beams. The young fellas have been good, but Greenwood hasn't appeared due to an ankle injury.
James Frawley (Melb>Haw)
8 games. The key defender suffered a right pectoral tear, and then dislocated his left shoulder. Lucky for the Hawks, Brian Lake kicked on.
Adam Cooney (WB>Ess)
9 games. The old Dog hasn't averaged so few possessions (16) since his debut year. Fighting a losing battle against a degenerative knee injury.
Mitch Clark (Melb>Geel)
8 games. Kicked six goals in a NAB Challenge match, but just 14 in the season proper while battling foot and calf issues.
Nick Malceski (SYD>GC)
7 games. The 2014 All-Australian halfback's disposal average is down from 23 to 15, and efficiency rate from 72.6% to 64.5%. Knee injury hasn't helped, but form was poor.
Joel Patfull (BL>GWS)
11 games. Was helping hold up the Giants' defence before suffering a punctured lung and two broken ribs.
Tom Boyd (GWS>WB)
12 games. Booted 16 goals, but like his $6m contract he's not meant to make an immediate impact. He's still on a second-year AFL player salary.
Ryan Griffen (WB>GWS)
13 games. Though averaging 20 touches, having his least-productive season since 2008.
Mitch Hallahan (Haw>GC)
10 games. Has been reasonably solid in the Suns' engine room, averaging 20 disposals and almost seven clearances.
Allen Christensen (Geel>BL)
13 games. Picking up the pace after back surgery last September meant a slow start to the season, but would like to have contributed more than 11 goals.
Heretier Lumumba (Coll>Melb)
12 games. The usually outspoken halfback has been quietly going about his business, averaging 17 touches.
Travis Varcoe (Geel>Coll)
13 games. Arguably enjoying his best season at age 27, averaging a career-high 17 disposals.
Jeff Garlett (Carl>Melb)
13 games. The small forward is on track for his best season in front of goal, with 26 majors.
Shaun Higgins (WB>NM)
13 games. Has been one of the few to stand up, surprising considering how injury-prone he's been. Averaging almost two goals and 18 touches.
Dayne Beams (Coll>BL)
13 games. The superstar midfielder is averaging 29 disposals and almost seven clearances. Everything the Lions expected.
