Big hair, vivid colours in fashion
MOVE over Little Black Dress, you're boring us.
This season is all about the bright pastels, chartreuse, tangerines and the miss-match.
For those attending the Boxing Day races, the Daily News scoured the streets of Warwick to get the latest race day fashion tips to ensure you do not go unnoticed.
Gone are the days where teaming your favourite coral top with that hot pink mini was deemed fashion suicide.
This summer, it is all about layering the bright with the brighter, and the races are no exception.
Owner of Classic Dimensions Robyn Fraser said although the traditional black and white outfits were still proving popular, many were opting for bright colours.
"Leggings with tunics and fascinators are popular, and the hot pink and lime green," Ms Fraser said.
"Some people do choose a plain black dress and get a coloured fascinator and clutch to go with it."
Last season may have had you sporting the top-knot bun, - and thank you fashion, you made getting ready that much quicker - but this summer curls are back.
Hair Kreations hairdresser Maddi Lane said big hair was all the rage this racing season.
"Big, bouncy curls, high up-do's, messy buns - anything out-there," Ms Lane said.
"Nobody goes neat anymore; it's all about big and a bit messy.
Napoleon make-up artist from All That Shiraz Sharon Price said bright eye make-up was a must.
"Natural foundation, highlight with a nice blush and colourful eyes and a bit of extra waterproof mascara because there's often a lot of laughing on the day and watery eyes, and you don't want it to run," Ms Price said.
Ms Price said not to be fooled by the latest fashion trend hitting the runway and opt for natural eyebrows, rather than thick, dark brows.
"You're going to be out in the sun all day and you don't want to look like you have two big caterpillars on your forehead," she said.
The outfit: Bright pastels, or team the simple dress with the outrageous fascinator.
The kicks: Thank your lucky stars fashionistas, the days of blistered feet and high-heel-hangovers are over - wedges are still in.
The do: Big and bold. High up-do's and bouncy curls are winners.
The money-maker: Flick the nude tones; go for bright eyes and pastel lips.
