Bicycle bandit targets tavern
A THIEF rode away with pockets full of cash after jumping the bar at Sugarland Tavern yesterday afternoon.
The man is believed to have leapt over the counter about 4pm and stolen a large amount of money from the till, before running to his pushbike outside the hotel and cycling away.
“There was no weapon and he made no threats,” Bundaberg Police Sergeant Mike McLellan said.
It is believed the man had been a customer in the pub and spent several hours there before allegedly stealing the cash.
Sgt McLellan said the man made no attempt to disguise his identity.
“Police are reviewing CCTV footage and making inquiries,” he said.
