Beware of mosquitoes after rain

BEWARE of mosquitoes after all the rain that has fallen on the region in the past few weeks, Queensland Health has warned.

In an advisory this week, Queensland Health warned mosquito breeding increased after rain or flooding, and it was important residents helped prevent outbreaks of mosquito-borne disease.

Precautions people could take to prevent problems included wearing insect repellent to avoid bites, especially during dawn or dusk.

People should also wear loose-fitting clothing and ensure all exposed skin was covered, and empty water out of containers.
