Bargara roads to get a new look

BUNDABERG Regional Council has voted to prepare unsealed road shoulders at Bargara in the lead-up to work being done by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The department plans to undertake asphalt overlay works on Bargara Road about February or March next year.

As the majority of shoulder maintenance in urban areas is the responsibility of council, the currently unsealed shoulders between Hughes Road and Tanner Street will be sealed prior to the asphalt overlay project at an estimated cost of $149,000.

The proposed asphalt overlay of road and shoulders is expected to enhance the appearance of the main approach to Bargara and significantly reduce future maintenance costs on the council shoulder sections.

The cost is expected to be funded through the minor road works allocation of the 2009/2010 budget.
