Bargara Plants three wins
THERE are three members of the Bargara Golf Club with the surname of Plant and last Tuesday all won a monthly medal in the veterans’ competition.
Trevor and Bill Plant had 64 nett to win the divisions one and three, while Frank Plant took out division two with 68.
Even more of a coincidence was that Shirley Stevens, who won the women’s division two with 71, revealed her family name was also Plant.
The outsiders in the winner’s circle were Wendy Sturwohld and Jill Serra, who also had 71 to win, and Ron Burnett on 65.
Earlier in the month, patron Graham Evans proved he could do more than just hit the first ball of the season down the middle.
He combined with fellow patron Val Bazley to win the opening day mixed fourball with 48 points.
Their 12 under par score beat Wayne Curtis and Leonne Burton by two points.
Last Thursday, Allan Carter won the stroke event with 64, on countback from Ron Wagner, and Karen Brock won the women’s with 38 points.
Brian Durnford and Brian Fairbrother won the 4BBB Par event on Saturday with a plus 12.
Ken Whan and Ron Donaldson also had plus 12 while Steve Moras made the 13th look easy when he eagled the hole.
Stacey McDuff and Bev Gatley won the two women’s divisions, both scoring 36 stableford points.
Club captain Garry Williams is looking for nominations for the men’s pennant teams for this year.
There is a list on the notice board in the clubhouse and information on the club website as well.
