Barefoot bowls event to benefit children with cancer

Join the fun of barefoot bowls and roll much-needed funds into helping children undergoing treatment for cancer!

In 2017, The Waves’ Charity Barefoot Bowls Day will raise funds in support of Cancer Council’s Do It For Cancer campaign.

The third annual event will be held on Friday, June 30, with registration at 9am.

The Waves General Manager Brendan Royall encouraged the local community to get involved and make a difference.

“We’re looking forward to bringing everyone together again for a great day of bowls in support of children undergoing treatment for cancer,” Mr Royall said.
Those interested in participating must register a team of four before Friday, June 23.

There is a $200 team package and a $300 sponsorship package available.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan thanked The Waves for their support.

“Do It For Cancer is simply about everyday Queenslanders doing what they can to make a difference and we commend The Waves for helping us reduce the burden of cancer,” Ms McMillan said.

“Funds raised at events like these are essential in investing in research for better outcomes, and providing support, hope, and advice for all Queenslanders, all cancers.”

More than 1630 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the Wide Bay Burnett, and sadly around 570 die from the disease.
