Barbarians out to break curse

UNION: The Bundaberg West Barbarians will be looking to do something they have never done before tonight in the Spring Cup.

Beat the Turtles Brothers in a finals contest.

The two sides will face off for the eighth straight year in the finals with the Barbarians yet to beat the Turtles since they became that side in 2010.

This includes three losses in grand finals from 2011 to 2013 and semi-final defeats in the other four.

In that time the Turtles have won seven grand finals in a row and will be aiming for eight straight premierships.

The sides play at 6.30pm tonight at The Waves Sports Ground.

In the other match, Isis will take on minor premiers the Pythons and be the major underdogs for the contest.

Crushers team manager Darren Golchert said the side would be as close to full strength as it could be.

"We'll have more players than last week,” he said.

"It would be the upset of the season if we beat them but even after last week's big loss to the Turtles we're quietly confident of a result.”

The game starts at 8pm.
