Back Page wins top greyhound race

Amber Boody’s bitch may have been a High Class Broad but she was not fast enough to beat Back Page in the Best Eight race of Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club’s New Year’s Cup.

The Gary Thorpe-trained dog showed once again why it is one of the most dominating dogs in Bundaberg with a win in the first race of the new year.

Back Page finished strongly in the 550m race, beating High Class Broad by three lengths to open the year in style.

Brandon River finished in third in the best eight race.

It was a busy start to the new year for the Thabeban club.

Ten races were held on the day with Elite Looking living up to her name in the opening race.

Marie Richards’ bitch was a clear winner in the maiden race, beating Black Reggie and Wipe You Out with a 27.18 second dash.

Diamond Tulsa beat By A Coop and Miss Finley in the second maiden race while Select Tejay was the victor in the novice race.

Ruckus was the quickest over 550m in the maiden/5th grade race while Cocoriffic was the best in the 4th/5th grade.

Leo’s Enforcer, Miss Standout, King Size Lorian and Major Billy Blue were the other winners.

It was a packed day of racing at Thabeban Park racecourse on Saturday.
