Baby shop fails: 'All stock must go' in liquidation sale

STRESSED-out pregnant mothers have been told by a failed baby goods retailer to fork out hundreds of extra dollars on lay-bys or forfeit their deposits.

Bubs Baby Shops entered voluntary administration last week and for the past week thousands of customers have been scrambling for answers on the status of their lay-bys of prams, car seats and cots.

Brisbane mother-to-be Mellie Rixon received an email yesterday from administrator Worrells, telling her she must pay $1300 to pick up her lay-by of nursery items including a cot and car seat, despite having paid $700 and only owing another $900.

"It has been so stressful from the moment we found out - we didn't even know they were closing until I saw it on Facebook, we weren't contacted at the time," she said.

Bub's Baby Shops are now offering massive savings on product at its stores in Logan and at Maroochydore, Kawana and Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.
