Baby nearly drowns in pool
A BABY has been rushed to hospital after being pulled from a pool in Townsville.
Emergency services were called to an address in Kelso about 10pm overnight to reports of a near drowning.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said an 11-month-old boy had been in the water for about two minutes before people at the property hauled him out and commenced CPR.
"The bub was breathing by the time paramedics arrived on scene," he said.
"He was transported under lights and sirens to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition."
The baby's condition has improved overnight and he is now considered stable.
"It's a good time to reiterate some pool safety tips," the QAS spokesman said.
"Always supervise children around pools, learn CPR and keep your skills up to date."
