LIVE ASHES BLOG: Aussies cruise to victory in First Test

AUSTRALIA should jump out to a 1-0 Ashes series lead within the first hour of play at the Gabba today.

With Cameron Bancroft and David Warner in full flight late on day four, the hosts actually gave the 170-run target a real push on Sunday, but ultimately they left 56 runs in the bank and finished at 0-114.

Both openers have passed 50 and looked comfortable against England's flagging attack.

The Poms were knocked over for a disappointing 195 in their second innings on Sunday as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins raced through the tail.
