Audi 'thief' nabbed with cocaine and fake ID

A CAR "thief" with a taste for expensive European vehicles was allegedly nabbed with cocaine and fake identification late yesterday.

The man allegedly stole a luxury $90,000 Audi SQ5 SUV from a rental agency at Sydney Airport on September 20, using "fake" ID.

The man will front a NSW court today where police will allege the 35-year-old used fraudulent identification to "hire" the car for seven days from a rental service at Sydney Airport.

"When the vehicle was not returned it was reported as stolen and officers from Botany Bay Local Area Command commenced investigations into the incident," NSW police said in a statement.

Officers arrested the man when they found him in the car in Milperra late yesterday.

"A search of the vehicle allegedly located fraudulent personal identification documents and a quantity of cocaine inside the vehicle; which had altered number plates and vehicle identifiers," police said.

The car's driver charged with seven offences and was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today. - ARM NEWSDESK
